Give us a call to speak with a member of our team or to book your pet's appointment today.

Appointment Policy

It’s always best to schedule an appointment in advance for your pet, whether it’s a routine examination or you believe they need special care. We have appointments available Monday - Friday between 8:00am and 6:00pm, and on Saturday between 8:30am and 5:00pm. Wellness exams can be scheduled online! Click here!

Animal Health Care Denver is not an emergency facility. If your pet is experiencing a medical emergency, please call the closest emergency animal hospital.

Please note that all clients are subject to late/no-show fees in the event that an appointment is either missed or cancelled/rescheduled within 24 hours of the original appointment time.

Arrival/Waiting Room Policy

Please keep your dog leashed or your cat kept in a carrier when visiting our waiting room. No matter how well-behaved your pet may be, you don’t know how other animals will react to it. Plus, we want all pets and owners to be comfortable at our facility at all times.

Courteous Behavior

We treat all of our clients and their pets with love and respect. We expect the same in return. Veterinary medicine is an occupation that involves daily drama and life-and-death situations. Interpersonal drama is simply not needed; life is hard enough!

Payment Methods & Policies

Unfortunately, we have bills to pay too! Therefore, in order to remain in business, we require a deposit of the low end of the estimate for any given procedure prior to the service being performed. At checkout, the remainder of the balance must be paid. We accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express, cash, CareCredit® and Scratchpay. We do not accept payment plans.

Prescription Refills

We offer prescription refill shipping via our online store so that you can get your pet’s prescriptions sent right to your door. If you’d like, you can also order and pick up prescriptions at Animal Health Care Denver in person. Keep in mind that in order for us to prescribe a medication, we must first examine your pet.

As on August 1, 2022, AHCD will no longer process third-party prescription requests, such as from Chewy.com. Our online store provides competitive pricing and convenient auto- shipping.

Prescription Diets

Some pets require special prescription diets to meet specific health or nutritional needs. You can order prescription food prescribed by one of our team members through our online store or Hill's to Home and have it shipped to your home.

Spaying and Neutering

We expect that all of our patients are spayed or neutered by the age of 2. This helps prevent many life threatening medical conditions and is a hallmark of responsible pet ownership. The exception to the spay/neuter requirement are breeders who follow the medical advice of our veterinarians, as long as the pets are purebred and AKC registered. Proof of AKC registration is required. We do not condone the purposeful breeding of mixed breed dogs, as there are already millions of mixed breed dogs at shelters that desperately need loving homes.

Rabies Vaccinations

Though owners of pets are, for the most part, free to elect which vaccines they would like their pets to receive, rabies vaccination is required by most cities and counties. Here at AHCD, all pets are expected to receive a rabies vaccine every 3 years. Modern vaccines are very pure and pose very little to no risk of causing health problems. Keeping your pet up to date on their rabies vaccine makes it much less problematic if your pet is involved in a biting incident or in an encounter with wildlife. Even indoor only cats can be exposed to rabies; rabid bats are known to fly into private homes.
