Our Staff

Dr. Cathryn Sayer grew up in Boulder, Colorado. She knew from a young age that she had a passion for helping animals and a love of science, which lead her to become a veterinarian. She obtained a B.S. in Zoology at the University of Washington in Seattle, and then attended Washington State University (go Cougs!) for her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine, graduating in 2009.

Dr. Sayer began working at Animal Health Care Specialists in 2014, and learned as much as she could from the great Dr. Schulman until he retired and she took over the practice. Dr. Sayer loves what she does and is very grateful to be able to help animals and their loving pet parents every day. She is also grateful to have the best veterinary staff in Denver.

Dr. Sayer has two adorable daughters and a supportive (and handsome) husband, and two lovable aging dogs (Kiwi and Sweetie).

Dr. MacKenzie Kohler was born and raised in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and earned her Bachelor’s degree in Animal Sciences &Technology from Louisiana State University in 2014. During her time at LSU she cared for various exotic animals at the university’s vet school. She also worked in small animal general practice as a veterinary assistant before pursuing her childhood dream of becoming a veterinarian. Dr. Kohler graduated from the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine in 2019. She is passionate about providing standard
of care services in a way that nurtures and promotes emotional well-being and reduces fear and anxiety in our pets.

Dr. Kohler is an avid reader and is committed to lifelong learning. In her free time, she loves to travel, foster kittens, and spend time with friends and family. While she does not have a pet at the moment, she loves and misses her family’s five dogs and three cats very much!

She hopes to one day have a farm here in Colorado.

Dr. Kaitlyn Hart is originally from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She attended Oklahoma State University (GO COWBOYS) for undergrad and veterinary school, where she graduated in 2015 with her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine.

After practicing for several years in Oklahoma, she moved to Colorado to be closer to the beautiful Rocky Mountains. She enjoys all things outdoors, gardening, beekeeping, and volunteering with the Junior League of Denver. She has two beautiful and sweet rescue cats, Everest and Gatsby (pictured).
